Tripping electrics and power faults

Electrical fault finding in East London

Does the power keep tripping?

You don't need to know which part has failed. Tell me what loses power and what was switched on when it happened. From there, I can arrange a visit to test the affected circuit and find out what's causing it.

The job you need

What is happening?

When you contact me, include when the problem started and how much of your home is affected.

The fuse box keeps tripping

Does it happen when the same appliance is running? Mention any pattern you've noticed, including how soon the switch trips.

Only part of the home has power

Let me know which rooms are affected and whether their lights work. If neighbouring flats have also lost power, the building manager or electricity supplier may need to be involved.

An intermittent electrical fault

Even a rough description of when the power cuts out can help. These faults can take longer to find because the problem may not happen during the first test.

A fault after electrical work

Mention any recent work or a new appliance. A leak near the electrics is also something I need to know about before the visit.

During the visit

What the work involves

The existing wiring affects what can be done. I'll check it and explain the work before you agree to it.

Testing starts with the wiring and connections affected by the fault.

I'll explain what the tests show, including whether the repair needs an appliance technician.

Any repair work is priced and agreed separately from finding the fault.

For a fault affecting the whole building, contact the building manager or electricity supplier. A fault inside an appliance may need an appliance repair technician.

Heat, scorching, burning smells or crackling?

Stop using the affected fitting and contact an electrician. Keep covers closed and do not touch the wiring when taking a photo.

Arranging a visit

Booking a visit

Your postcode and a description of the problem give me enough to start. We can then agree a time and the visit charge.

Speak with Dzhelal

Tell me what's stopped working, or what you'd like installed. A photo is useful if the fitting is difficult to describe.

Book a time

I'll check when I can get to your address and explain the visit charge before we book a time.

Confirm the price

For a repair, the price depends on what I find. I'll explain it before doing that work.

Before you get in touch

Before you book

Ask about the visit charge when you contact me. Any repair work is priced once I've checked the problem.

Is fault finding an electrical inspection?

Fault finding investigates a problem you've noticed. An inspection checks the installation more broadly. If you need an inspection report, tell me what it is for.

What if I do not know which switch has tripped?

A photo of the fuse box with the cover closed will help. An RCD is one of its safety switches, but you don't need to identify it yourself.

Is there a separate charge for finding the fault?

Ask me for the fault-finding charge before booking. I'll give you the cost of any repair once the fault has been found.
