Replacing a ceiling or wall light
A photo of the existing light helps me see the connection and position. Send the details of your new fitting as well.
Fitting new lights
Bought a new light fitting?
Send me its make and model, together with a photo of where you want it. I can fit a replacement at an existing point or check the wiring needed for a new position. Kitchen and bathroom lighting are covered too.

The job you need
Show me the position you have in mind and send any fitting or appliance details you already have.

Where should the light go, and where would you like its switch? I'll check how to get the wiring to those positions.
Tell me whether the cabinets are already fitted. Access behind them affects how the lights can be wired.
Before buying the fitting, ask me to check whether it is suitable for its position in the bathroom.
During the visit
The existing wiring affects what can be done. I'll check it and explain the work before you agree to it.
We agree the fittings and their positions, including how the lights will be switched.
I check the existing wiring and access for any new cables before giving you the installation price.
Any holes in walls or ceilings need a plan for plaster repairs and decorating, which we agree before starting.
Ask who will supply the fittings and who will repair any decoration before booking the installation.
Arranging a visit
Your postcode and a description of the problem give me enough to start. We can then agree a time and the visit charge.
Tell me what's stopped working, or what you'd like installed. A photo is useful if the fitting is difficult to describe.
I'll check when I can get to your address and explain the visit charge before we book a time.
For a repair, the price depends on what I find. I'll explain it before doing that work.
Before you get in touch
Ask about the visit charge when you contact me. Any repair work is priced once I've checked the problem.
